How the host builds an advantage

The home side tunes the course to suit its own players — growing or cutting rough, adjusting green speed, widening or tightening fairways. If your team is full of accurate iron players you present a course that demands accuracy; if the visitors rely on power, you take power out of the equation. The 2027 host, Adare Manor, is a long parkland test with the River Maigue in play, rewarding precision over raw length. Because the course rewards different playing styles, the venue should shape who you draft in Drive for Five.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the 2027 Ryder Cup?

Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland — a parkland course, and the first Irish staging since the K Club in 2006. The 2027 match also marks the event's 100th anniversary. See our full Adare Manor guide.

Where have recent Ryder Cups been played?

Recent venues include Bethpage Black (2025, USA), Marco Simone in Rome (2023, Europe), Whistling Straits (2021, USA), Le Golf National in Paris (2018, Europe) and Hazeltine (2016, USA).

Does the venue affect who should play?

Strongly. A tight, water-guarded parkland course rewards accuracy and short game; a wide-open course favours big hitters. The home team also sets up the course to suit its own players, which is a major part of home advantage.
